ALIYAH CONTRIBUTIONS - We thank those that have contributed for their recent aliyahs: Michael Herskovitz; Robert Itskowitz; Michael Pasternak

MAZEL TOV - Rabbi David and Naama Lazar on the birth of a granddaughter to Tuvia and Carol Lazar.

Rabbi and Rebbetzin Aaron Kagan on the birth of a daughter.

SIDDURIM CAMPAIGN IN FULL SWING - As you are aware, we are in the midst of a campaign to purchase new Siddurim for the shul. For $36.00 you can purchase a new Siddur in honor or memory of a loved one or friend. Help us fill our bookshelves with fresh new prayer books for our members and many guests who join us for Shabbat, holidays and simchas. Simply send us a check and enclose a note stating the name of the presenter of the Siddur and who it is in honor or memory of. As new Siddurim are ordered, we will continue to acknowledge them. Help fill the shelves! Donate a Siddur! We need your help!

HELP THE FOOD PANTRY - FILL THE YELLOW BARRELL - As you may have noticed, there is now a yellow Squirrel Hill Food Pantry barrel in the shul lobby. This is for donated non-perishable food items, kosher only, of course. The summer is a difficult month for collection of donated items so please help out in any way you can. The staples are always welcome, especially tuna and breakfast cereals. Your generosity is appreciated by members of our community. If you have any questions, you can contact Stefanie Small or the Food Pantry directly. June's Food of the Month is Pasta or Rice and July is Tuna (but any donation of any non-perishable food item is encouraged, welcomed and greatly appreciated). Please remember to look for a Kosher Symbol (Hechsher) and please try to stick to the nationally recognized and accepted Kosher certifications such as: OU, OK, Kof-K, CRC, Star-K, etc. Rabbi Wasserman has indicated that it is better to bring the non-perishable food items during the week. However, if the absolute only time that you can conveniently bring your food items to donate to the Food Pantry is on Shabbat, since it is an important Mitzvah, you may do so.

BRIGHTEN LIFE- GIVE BLOOD - On Sunday, July 13th from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M., Shaare Torah will hold our annual summer Blood Drive. As we are sure you are aware, summer is the hardest time for the Blood Bank since the need is great and people are busy with other things during the summer. Won't you take a few minutes (or maybe a bit more) and make an appointment to give blood. Now it is even easier as you can make your appointment online. To schedule your lifesaving appointment, please log on to www.centralbloodbank.org and enter sponsor code G0020025 or contact Linda Pasternak at 412-421-8855 or shaaretora@aol.com. Please help save a life -- we never know when that life might be a loved ones or even our own. The Blood Bank needs your support.

PRAYERS FOR GILAD SHALIT - On Wednesday July 2, the Hebrew calendar date of the second anniversary of the abduction of IDF Soldier Gilad Shalit , we are calling on all Jews throughout the world to recite one verse of tehillim to beseech G-d's mercy to have Gilad Shalit released. By reciting this verse at the same time the power of our solidarity and oneness can have a much greater impact on our prayers. Please recite the psalm found below at the following time on Wednesday July 2:http://www.mechon-mamre.org/p/pt/pt26c1.htm - 8:00 a.m. Pacific Coast Time; 11:00 a.m. Eastern Coast Time; 4:00 p.m. UK Time; 5:00 p.m. Paris Time;6:00 p.m. Israel Time
